The Covid-19 pandemic has hit particularly hard many vulnerable and lower-income people, further increasing existing concerns that the pre-crisis growth models of many countries were leaving too many behind. But the crisis, which has triggered a strong economic policy response almost everywhere, is also an opportunity to build a better, fairer, and more resilient economy. What is the scope for greener, smarter, and more inclusive growth? Does this mean a less dynamic economy, or are there untapped opportunities? What economic policies and institutions are required to achieve this, and are they affordable when an increasing number of countries are facing fiscal sustainability challenges?
